Action Alert
June 19, 2026 — Karen Church
Wednesday I had the honor of joining a conference call with Erin Brockovich and her team as a representative of Protect Grove City. Erin Brockovich has recently launched a website for AI data center location reporting.
The call brought together organizers and activists from across the country who are all fighting versions of the same battle: data centers moving into communities with little transparency, little accountability, and big consequences for the people who live there. We talked about the environmental impacts, the way these projects operate in the shadows until it’s almost too late to stop them, and what communities are doing to push back.
What I took away from the call was that Grove City is not alone! What is happening on Rensch Road is happening in towns all over this country, and people are paying attention.
Erin’s team encouraged every single one of us to keep going. That meant a lot, especially given that we are in the middle of collecting signatures so the community has a vote in what gets built in our town. It’s aggressive and will require lots of volunteers to help spread the word. At the end of the day, only we will save us and our neighbors. No one is coming to rescue us!
